American Higher Education in Crisis?
Since the 1970's the cost of college tuition has gone up by 10-20 times, depending on which numbers you look at. An interesting counter-argument is to say, "No, the cost of college hasn't gone up. Because of mechanization, the cost of most everything else has gone down. Things that can't be automated, like, say dental care, have kept pace with the price of college." Teaching, then, is an artisan craft.
