prolog

prolog was the topic of the next paper and presentation in the book. prolog was designed by a french team in 1970 trying to get computers to work in something closer to natural language. it comes from a different software paradigm, which wikipedia describes as declarative programming: asking the computer to solve a problem rather than telling it how. took me some googling to start to figure out how to use prolog, but i think i got the computer to tell me that squirrels are animals. (tutorialspoint.com is a nice website for trying stuff. basically a linux box in the cloud with a whole bunch of compilers/intrepreters installed.)
