sophists

ust going to go through a great courses series on herodotus quickly for some background.

dr. vandiver describes sophists, who taught students to argue for causes in the emerging athenian republic (5th century bce, which would make the school about contemporary with herodotus). sophists unsettled people for being able to argue either of opposing sides, whether considered morally right or wrong otherwise.

i've been called a sophist, which i suppose means that my argument is hard to refute, but the person is pretty sure my rhetoric leads nowhere good.
